Riley Young is a documentary filmmaker with a focus on non-traditional documentary styles. Riley Young got her MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking at Montana State University. She has a background in Marine Science including scientific research conducted through NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). She has made films that focus on translating scientific communication in a fun and engaging way using film. During her undergraduate studies, she learned how difficult it is to communicate science in a way that is easy to understand. It has now become her goal to find ways of entertainment that expands the desire to learn and communicate science through the use of film. Riley Young is inspired by her degree in Marine Science and uses experimentation within her films to educate audiences through entertainment. She is experienced in directing, animating, and editing documentaries, as well as having expertise in working with digital cameras,16mm and 8mm film cameras.
